After Rejecting $420,000, Comptroller Bashir Abubakar of Apapa Area Command Earns a Promotion.
Comptroller Bashir Abubakar of the Nigerian Customs Service has earned his promotion.
Last year, Comp. Bashir was a hero for the Customs Service after rejecting $420,000. The money was to allow the delivery of 41 illegal containers of tramadol.
Tramadol is a centrally-acting, oral analgesic (pain drug) that contains an opioid (narcotic). The abuse of the drug may lead to overdose and death, even at normal doses. Nigerian laws has prohibited the use of the drug.
The customs officer rejected the bribe and seized all the containers. This is contributory to his promotion by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali(Rtd).
He has been promoted to the Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of the Apapa Area Command.
